Who is responsible
The controller is the publisher named in the legal notice. Full details are in the legal notice.
What happens when you read
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., which, like any web host, processes your IP address and the technical details of each request (browser, time, page) to deliver the page and protect the service against abuse. These logs are kept by Vercel for a short period and are not used by us to identify you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). Vercel may process data outside the EU under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Fonts and photographs are served from this site. There is no analytics and no tracking pixel of our own. The only third-party code on every page is Google AdSense, described below.
Advertising
Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC). To show an ad, your browser connects to Google's ad servers, which receive your IP address and technical details of the page and your device, and may use cookies or similar technologies to choose ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent in a message on the site before using cookies for personalised ads (GDPR art. 6(1)(a) and art. 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI); without it, only non-personalised ads based on limited data are shown. You can change your choice at any time from that message and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. Reading in another language
The language menu at the top of every page lets you read the magazine in another language. Nothing related to it loads until you choose a language. When you do, your browser loads Google's website translation service (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC), which receives the text of the page you are reading and your IP address in order to translate it, and a cookie called googtrans is stored on your device to remember your choice on the next pages. This happens only because you asked for it (the cookie is necessary for the service you requested), and you can stop it at any time with “Back to English” in the same menu, which deletes the cookie. Google processes the text under its own privacy policy.
Translations are produced automatically and may contain mistakes, particularly with temperatures, quantities and units. The English text is the reference.
Links to other sites
Articles link to their sources (agencies, journals, manufacturers) and photographs link to their photographers on Unsplash. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we do not share anything with them.
If you write to us
If you email the editor, we use your address and message only to reply and to correct an article if needed, and delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed for that.
Your rights
You can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability by writing to the editor. You also have the right to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es).
